5Escape the interferenceOct 05, 2009
Its funny how headphones have become such a part of our daily lives. From the ubiquitous white cords dangling from our iPods to their predecessors, those foam covered throw-aways from the walkman era, headphones have become the way many of us experience music every day. However, there are also times when you're at home when you want to immerse yourself in the sonic purity of what you are listening to, when the only way to truly enjoy the aural experience, that headphones are what you need. These are not the times for those cheap pairs that came with your mp3 player or iPod, these are the time when you need something like these AKGs.

The first thing you will notice is how comfortable these will feel on your head, they don't bind, nor are they heavy on your ears, they surround your ears comfortably, gently muffling out the distractions of the world gone mad around you. Press play, whether it's a cd, something from an iPod or even your turntable, what you will find is an immediate immersion in sound. From the subtle breaths between lyrics, or the hidden chords you'd never heard before, these headphones will create a perfect sonic picture of the music you thought you knew and yet are hearing for the first time. The sounds is rich without being burdened by too much bass or too light with sharp highs, no, instead you will hear a sonic balance that brings your music to life. These are headphones for taking the time to truly appreciate the music you are listening to.

Take the time, pull up a chair, play your favorite playlist, cs or lp, close your eyes and enjoy the new experience that these marvelous headphones will bring to the music you love. They're really that great.

5Good, full sized headphones.May 06, 2008
I bought these headphones as an alternative to "earbuds" that come with most devices. I found them to have very good sound for a product with such a low cost.

4Good quality for the priceFeb 03, 2008
I have been using the K66 model for about six months now for various sound production purposes. They are semi-open, as some reviewers have already pointed out, so they are really best suited for home studio setups. These are not really meant to be used to plug into your mp3 player on the train. It is not a design fault that other people can hear what you are listening to - it's how they are made. Hence - 'open backed'.

Now that is out of the way... I have used these for sound designs and music production. They perform well across the entire frequency spectrum, whether it is a base-heavy music piece, or a crisp cymbal. Also, I have not had a single problem with them for the entire time I have used them - moderate use over about 6 months. I find them quite comfortable, although I admit that they don't seem as adjustable as other makes of headphones, so some people might have a problem with that.

Overall though, a really good set of cans for the price you pay.

4Good Low-End HeadphonesOct 29, 2007
I bought a set of these after reading many dubious reviews of all sorts of headphones in this price range. First of all, they are very light and comfortable, and you can wear them for hours with no problems. Secondly, they sound good to me: they have a nice full sound that is a lot better than anything I have listened to in a long time. Thirdly, they seem well constructed for the price.

For the price of these things, they are really good in my opinion. If you want some headphones in this price range, this may be just what you are looking for.

4Decent headphonesSep 13, 2007
The AKG K66 headphones are probably the best open-backed headphones you can get for such a low price. They are open-backed, so don't plan on using them to listen to Iron Maiden at full volume in some public place and expect to get away with it. Very comfortable and fairly durable, these headphones are good investment if you don't have the cash to get those ridiculously high-priced Bose headphones you've been dreaming about.
