5Worth every penny!Nov 20, 2009
These are an amazing set of headphones. I'm not an audiophile by any means. My main source of music is my iPod. Anyways, I've had these Grados for 4 years and the build and sound quality is excellent. These headphones bring new life to your existing music collection. I'm pretty rough with my headphones, and these are the only pair of headphones that have lasted this long for me.

In less than four years, I've broken:
Sennheiser HD280 (which also had excellent sound quality) - and the foam started falling apart and the headband broke, but the headphones still produced fine sound,

Sony MDR-blah-blah (lesser sound quality) - build quality really sucks the foam started peeling in about a month,

4 different Skull-Candy earbuds (decent sound quality. better than the Sonys). I keep buying the skull-candy earbuds because they're more convenient for flights and travel. Unfortunately, they keep breaking. It's pretty annoying.

Anyways, the only pair of headphones that have lasted this long are the Grado SR60. Plus, the Grado SR60 has the best sound quality along with the Sennheiser HD280.

5$79? They could have charged 3X that.Nov 19, 2009
I use these with my iPod Classic. The sound is perfect. I do not have one single qualm. You notice bits of your music you never have before. You'll understand lyrics you've never been able to before. The bass is strong, but never overwhelms the rest of the music. And, on a song where the bass should be heavy it is. On a song where the bass is not supposed to be dominant, it isn't. How they do this I do not know. The foam earcups are very comfortable, and sometimes when I stop the music I'll leave them on absentmindedly. One warning, the cord is thick and relatively long. I'd say the cord is a little less thick than a pen, if you want a comparison. These are not for people who want earbud portability. Of course, the reason the cord is so thick is because of durability, and the connections to the headphone jack and the earcups feel very strong and secure. The head strap also feels very durable and strong, but comfortable. In conclusion, I've always read that Grado headphones are legendary. It's 100% deserved. Especially for $79.

4Awesome while they lastedNov 09, 2009
I really enjoyed these headphones while they lasted. The sound quality is excellent, they have a simple design, and feel sturdy. I used them with my laptop and kept them on my desk. I used them exclusively for almost two years until they got a short in the "Y" splitter on the cable. I was disappointed but I think I'm harder on my headphones than most people so this may not be a design issue. They are comfortable for the most part but if used for long hours you may feel some discomfort. I would still recommend these headphones.

4Grado Prestige Series SR-60iNov 05, 2009
I first bought the Sennheiser h280 Pro headset at a local music store but returned them because the closed style muffled the highs to me. Bass was adequate, overall sound was ok. The closed pads were soft and comfortable but really kept heat in around the ears and created sweat with extended use. The store clerk looked at me like I was crazy as he owned a pair and thought they were great.
I opted for the Grado SR-60i from Amazon. I probably should have spent the extra money and bought the 80i but these headphones suit my purpose. I like the sound clarity and the light weight on my head and ears. I find the foam pads to be comfortable. I probably sacrificed a little on the bass (compared to the 280) but as I like the highs to almost "crackle", the SR-60 was the right choice for me.

4American sound.Oct 29, 2009
I have read many good things about Grado Quality and most importantly the S.Q. that Grado is well known for. A person can just see that these headphones were not just an after thought just to make money on the side, as many companies do. The first audition was a surprising experience. I love music and love to hear all the little details that the instruments make. Grado is a brand that will do just that with ease. When played on cheep mp3 players the Grado headphones seems to compensate for the mp3's low quality and presents the music with detail and robustness. When my daughter first used these Grado prestige series SR-60i, the first thing she said,-with a smile- was these have bass. I would recommend these to anyone that loves music. Grado has many upgrade models as well that should please you. Remember this is an American company so lets do our part to help our own economy.
